Summer Studio is a thoughtfully designed week-long art program held in a private home studio in Chêne-Bougeries for girls ages 10–12.

Term II: July 6 - 10, 2026

Registration for Term II will open once Term I has been fully booked.

Throughout the week, students explore themes of identity and self-expression while discovering the work of influential women artists. Each day focuses on a different artist and includes a hands-on studio project inspired by her ideas and techniques.

Artists explored during the week include:

• Georgia O’Keeffe
• Helen Frankenthaler
• Louise Bourgeois
• Faith Ringgold
• Frida Kahlo

Through painting, sculpture, textile work, and creative exploration, students are encouraged to experiment with materials, develop confidence in their creativity, and discover their own artistic voice.

A Typical Day at Summer Studio

Each day follows a gentle rhythm of reflection, learning, and creative studio work.

Morning Ritual
The day begins around the studio table with tea, journaling, sketching, or quiet reflection.

Artist Presentation
We gather in the salon for a short presentation introducing the artist of the day. Through images, slides, and occasional video clips, students learn about the artist’s life and ideas while practicing how to look closely and thoughtfully at art.

Studio Planning
Students return to the studio table to begin developing their projects through sketching, journaling, and planning.

Communal Lunch
Midday we pause for a shared lunch. Together we set the table, serve the meal, and enjoy conversation about art, ideas, and the projects we are developing.

Afternoon Studio
The afternoon is devoted to creative making — painting, sculpting, and experimenting with materials in a relaxed studio atmosphere. Music plays softly, and students may take short breaks in the garden.

Closing the Day
Together we tidy the studio and briefly reflect on the work created during the day, and what we can expect tomorrow!

Summer Studio is designed to feel like a small artist’s atelier, where curiosity, creativity, and conversation are encouraged. In this intimate setting, students have the space to explore ideas, experiment with materials, and discover new ways of expressing themselves through art.

The space also includes a garden and outdoor atelier area, which will be used for certain projects, lessons and lunch break when the weather allows.

Presentations about the artists we study throughout the week will take place in the salon, where students can view artworks and short slideshow presentations on a screen before beginning their studio projects.

To encourage focus, creativity, and conversation, phones and personal devices are not used during studio hours.

Students may bring a phone if needed, but devices will be collected at the beginning of the day and returned at 5:00 pm at pick-up.
